Opportunity to lead an organisation that plays a fundamental role in the ongoing delivery of crucial services to rural health professionals.

The New Zealand Rural General Practice Network (the Network) is a membership and support organisation for rural health professionals. The Network’s national membership and advocacy includes both rural practices and individual members covering more than 1800 doctors, nurses, practice managers and students. As part of their business operation, they are contracted by the New Zealand government to provide a rural locum support and recruitment service which they do under the NZLocums brand, recruiting health professionals nationally and internationally.

As Chief Executive, you will have the opportunity to lead an organisation that plays a fundamental role in the ongoing delivery of a number of key initiatives and services to rural health professionals.

The Network’s primary function is to deliver on their recruitment obligations.  In addition, the Network plays a key advocacy role to ensure that the key health issues facing rural New Zealand are communicated and addressed wherever possible.

With a tangible record of success as a Chief Executive, you will drive visibility and connection with the membership, stakeholder and rural New Zealand base.  You will have developed and grown internal culture that “lives” core tenets such as respect, communication and trust.

  • A background in the broader Health sector, would be an advantage as would experience in the NFP/NGO space.
  • Outstanding leadership experience and track record in connecting at all levels, and developing and motivating staff to achieve superior performance.
  • Genuine strategic capability, and a proven ability to connect positively with a Board/Committee.
  • Experience managing contract funding and frameworks would be beneficial.

This is a challenging, yet enormously rewarding role.  You will have the backing of the Board/Committee to continue to drive the organisation to deliver outstanding services to its membership base.
